the crunch

So, last week and this week a large portion of my time has been spent searching media job listing sites (MediaBistro being the best of these) and applying for a bunch of entry-level jobs. Most of the ones I'm applying for are in New York, working for magazines or the websites of magazines. A couple of ones I've sent apps to already are Newsweek, Fastcompany.com, and NYMag.com (god, I love that site). But there have also been a few non-New York ones, like The National. No, I don't think it will happen - they probably won't trust me to survive in Abu Dhabi. I just read an article in the Times this April about the paper and I have to admit, when I saw the job listing explaining that they were hiring for multiple positions, I knew I had to email them!

I don't know, beyond that nothing remotely interesting is going on. Part of me wants to apply for a part-time job here just to make ends meet, but really, I feel like I shouldn't get a job here if it might only be for a month. Then again, it all depends on opportunities: I could be here much, much longer.

Just think: in less than a month, I will have the piece of paper I've been working seven years to obtain.
